Did you know ...?
What could be more pristine, unadulterated and innocent (rascals included) than the face of a child?
During my time at the university hospital, I had the opportunity to deal intensively with tumors and swellings of the face that occur especially in newborns, children and adolescents. This opened up the special world of children's faces to me, beyond the immediate medical specialties of pediatric facial surgery.
But one thing at a time:
Did you know ...?
... that children are not normally bothered by differences or a "there-is-something" in their face until they start elementary school? Analogous to numerous scientific results from the field of developmental psychology, for example in the case of hemangiomas, I have observed time and again that children usually have far fewer problems with this up to the age of six than their parents, even when they are with their peers. However, I can understand every father or mother who does not want to let any time pass, miss out or miss the earliest possible time for removal. And best of all, they don't want to see anything afterwards either...! How understandable, even for me. But...
Did you know ... ?
... that apart from really urgent cases (rapid growth, unclear findings "What-is-this?"), the rapid growth of a child's face means that changes can be removed more easily and, above all, more "invisibly" as the head (and thus the non-affected parts of the face) grows larger, since scars are smaller, heal better, do not "collide" with facial growth (i.e. do not affect it unfavorably) and are therefore less visible in the future?
Did you know ... ?
... that my team and I were able to SAVE A FULL NARCOSIS in individual cases of 7-year-old children and that the intervention was possible without any problems and without any bad memories in LOCAL ANESTHESIA due to the waiting time? Assessing all this requires a lot of experience, knowledge and a "knack" for dealing with children and their parents, and last but not least joy.
You can rely on me and my team for all of this.
